Daesan Foundation to Receive Applications for Grants

The Daesan Foundation will receive applications for 'Grants for the Translation of Korean Literature' and 'Daesan Literary Awards'.
'Grants for the Translation of Korean Literature', established to encourage the globalization of Korean literature and higher estimation of Korean culture, are intended to assist the dissemination of our literature in the outside world.
Target languages are English, French, German, and Spanish.
Applications : Works of Korean literature deemed to be deserving of a global reputation and capable of winning international literary awards, including works that have won Daesan Literary Awards, are translated, then published and disseminated abroad.
Translators are invited to apply; teams composed of one native Korean and one native speaker of the target language are preferred.
'Daesan Literary Awards' were established to promote the globalization of Korean literature, the strengthening of national sentiment, and a widening of the boundaries of literary writing. These awards constitute the largest set of literary prizes at present given in Korea, and are awarded to the work in each genre judged to be most outstanding in literary quality.
Categories are Poetry (including Sijo), Fiction, Drama, Criticism, Translation.
