Documentary on Prostitutes to be Shown
'Every night in my dreams, the pimp shouts, 'Here comes a customer!' Then I wake up.'A documentry film on the plight of prostitutes in Korea, which was co-produced by prostitutes themselves, will be screened at the Sejong Cultural Art Center on December 1.
The documentary was made by the documentary production company 'Long-Horned Beetle' in association with a civil organization, 'One Voice to Root Out Prostitution' over the last seven months.
Notably, eight prostitutes, including 44-year-old Kang Ja-ok, who has been working for 25 years in the sex industry, and 27-year-old Kang Myong-hee, who was threatened by her pimp after her marriage, participated in the film's productions.
The documentary starkly portrays the miserable conditions of prostitutes, exploited by greedy and abusive pimps and other sex-trade dealers.
