Ear Reconstructive Surgery Tops 1,000 Mark.

The number of ear reconstruction surgeries have passed the 1,000 mark for the first time. Professor Park Chol of the Ear Reconstruction Clinic of Severance Hospital announced that he has successfully operated on over 1,000 patients since he started doing the procedure in May 1991.

Prof. Park does numerous reconstruction procedures to alleviate people with blocked earholes, congenital deformities or ears deformed in accidents. Ear reconstruction requires the 'harvesting' of ear tissues and skin grafted from other parts of the body. This along with rib cartilage is used to make an ear.
