A park specifically for fireflies that can live only in non-polluted areas will soon be created in Chunbuk, by Moo-ju Gun.
Moo-ju Gun will set up this environmentally friendly firefly theme park at Sulchunmyun starting March 19 and will maintain it until 2002. The capital needed for this project is 4.4 billion won.
Gun first decided to create a non-polluted environment suitable for marsh snails, upon which fireflies feed.
Inside the park, artificial firefly breeding grounds as well as a research institute with facilities like seminar rooms and research laboratories will be installed.
There will also be an image bank, lecture rooms, and a library. These facilities will become the permanent home of the Firefly Environment School, which was previously under temporary management.
County governor Kim Se-woong said,"This natural park will provide teenagers with the opportunity to experience nature as it is,as well as foster interest in adults about our environment."
