Further Opening of Pop Culture Market to Japan to be Announced

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Park Jie-won, said on September 9 that the government is to take a second step of opening the pop-culture market to Japan.
The sectors to be opened and the government's countermeasures will be included in an announcement to be made shortly.
The first step of opening-up, to which movies and videos fall subject, was implemented on December 20 1998, after the summit talk between Korea and Japan in August 1998.
Regarding the sectors to be opened, the ministry said, 'Sectors which are likely to greatly affect industry or public opinion in Korea will be excluded at this stage.'
