Hansol Supports Director Kang"s MovieHansol 018 personal communications service system (PCS) has decided to sponsor film director Kang Je-kyu for his next work. Kang's last movie 'Swiri' drew more than 3 million spectators.
Hansol will donate 2 million dollars under the condition that the 'One Shot 018' logo is visible on certain items featured in the film, including a cellular phone.
Hansol will pay 1.25 million directly and the rest of the money will be supplied by 200,000 018 customers. In exchange for this, contributors will receive free tickets for the movie on top of a phone fee discount of the same amount as their donation, which means Hansol obtains advertising while Kang secures an easy initial 200,000 fans for the film.
This kind of support is common in Hollywood but it is the first time this kind of promotion has been seen in Korea.
Both Hansol and Kang will chip in some benefits out of the film for the movie industry.
