Hyosuk Cultural Festival to Open

Anyone who's read 'When Buckwheat Flowers Bloom' by Lee Hyo-suk, yearns to visit Bongpyung, Kangwon Province, the setting of his novel, to smell the sweet scents of buckwheat in bloom.

Now you can at the Hyosuk, Kangwon Province Cultural Festival in a 197,500 square yards buckwheat flower field near Bongpyung market place and Kasan Park. The Bongpyung market will be recreated to a 1930's style market, with events including, the Hyosuk Writing Contest, a literature symposium, a 'Buckwheat Flowers In Bloom' appreciation class, and tourists will learn to make Korean food.

It is sponsored by the Kasan Literature Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Joongang Ilbo.
