The Korea Foundation (KF) held a ground-breaking ceremony Thursday at Kyushu University in Fukuoka where they will establish the Korea Research Center.
The center will furnish a library and retrieval rooms in its two-story building to open late this year. It is the very first institute in Japan to receive funding from the Korean government.
The foundation provides scholarships for eight Japanese students majoring in Korean studies. It's 1 million-dollar five-year budget, running through to 2004, also supports book purchases and seminars as well.
