Korea Sees Rapid Increase in Female Internet Users

The number of domestic Internet users has been increasing rapidly with the number of new Internet users approaching 900,000 every month. In particular, the number of female Internet users is expanding switfly, especially taking into consideration the fact that most Internet users in Korea have been male until now.

The Korea Internet Information Center conducted a survey of 8500 people throughout the nation. According to the results of the population comparison, Internet users over the age of seven who use the Internet more than once a month reached 13.93 million at the end of March. The number exceeded the previous year's record of 10 million by 3 million users.

The number of female users was still 37.3 percent lower than the number of male users, and amounted to 5.21 million. However, the female proportion of the Internet using population has increased by 4.2 percent compared to last year.
