Published: 04 Jan. 2003, 17:15
Ji Myong Kwan, the head of the committee said, 'In regards our policy to be more open toward Japanese culture, we have to consider the whole Asian culture market. This symposium will be a signal flag of an opening to Japanese culture.' He continued, 'The normalization of diplomatic relation in 1965 with Japan was not a result of national consensus but the open door toward Japanese culture should be result of consensus.' Korea has closed its doors towards Japanese culture since the diplomatic relationship with Japan was normalized.
Japanese participants will be Tsutsumi Seiji, the chief of Saison Corp., Oguri Kohei, a movie director, and Ono Kosei, a critic of animated films. Tsutsumi will make a keynote speech about culture liberalization and Dr. Kang Man Kil of Korea University will make another keynote speech about the basic policy of Korea-Japan cultural exchange.
