Korean Folk Art Festival Opens Sept. 14

The Korean Folk Festival will be staged at Aehang Stadium in Cheju City from September 14 to 17 featuring 43 groups from arcross the country.
Cheju officials chose the theme 'Let's Open the New Millenium by Enhancing our National Culture' for the festival.
Starting with several pre-launch events as well as the National Youth Folk Festival, the opening ceremony will fall on September 15 while the actual competition begins on the 16th culminating in a closing ceremony scheduled for September 17.
In addition, there will be trial performances approved as Intangible Cultural Properties from eight provinces.
About 3,500 people from 21 adult teams including five from provinces in North Korea and 16 junior teams representing every province will compete.
