Korean Movies Triumph in International Film Festivals

Deauville, France-Director Lee Myung-se's 'Nowhere to Hide' has won the Hermes Prize, the grand prize at the second Deauville Asia Film Festival, which ended on March 19.
The film festival opened on March 17, and seven Asian countries including Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong and India, submitted nine films to the competition. 'Nowhere to Hide' won the grand prize on top of four additional prizes out of six categories, including 'best director' and 'best male actor' for Park Joong-hoon.
In another coup for the Korean film world, 'Bird Stopping in the Empty Sky' directed by Chun Soo-il won the grand prize at the Fribourg Film Festival in Switzerland. The week-long festival began March 17. A total of 72 films from around the globe were featured in the festival.
