Korean Websites Provide Full Cannes Coverage

A domestic website is offering up-to-date news on this year's 53rd Cannes Film Festival, scheduled to run from May 10 to May 21.

Internet Broadcasting, OKCAST(www.okcast.com), sent over 20 staff members to this year's Cannes. They plan to broadcast the daily events and activities that surround the creators of 'Chun-Hyang,' the first Korean film nominated for the Films on Competition. The company will also broadcast daily news from the festival.

There will be special features within the Internet broadcast. For example, there will be a 'paparazzi' section that provides personal information on stars attending the event.

FILM2.0 (www.film2.co.kr), a web-magazine that provides informationon films, sent a team to the Cannes festival in a joint project with Lycos Korea. They provide 10 articles each day about the festival, including interviews with top stars and directors.

The Lycos-FILM2.0 crew also plans to offer commentary on films through a domestic film critic.

OKCAST also broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies of the Chonju International Film Festival. They said that "Korea Telecom's ADSL users were able to watch the live broadcats on a full-sized screen."

"We now have the most state-of-the-art equipment available. Visitors to our website will be pleasantly surprised."
