The continuing general medical strike has spawned an Internet site that provides information on hospitals receiving patients by area.
Internet company Cosmo Internet & Communication revealed that it would list open hospitals sorted by region from June 23 on Cyber Town (www.Ctown.net), an information portal site.
By connecting to Cyber Town and clicking on 'Area Ctown', visitors can obtain information about treatment centers available nationally, as well as updates on each area.
The site is currently carrying information on the availability of treatment for medical conditions such as births and surgery, and on capability for hospitalization and emergency treatment in 160 hospitals in Seoul. It also provides information about hospitals in the six metropolitan cities and Kyonggi, Chungchong South, Kyongsang South, and Cheju provinces.
Hong Sa-il, team manager of Cosmo Information & Communication, says "In case of a long-term general medical strike, we'll improve the hospital information now being provided through 38 real-time area network cariers."
