Mount Namsan in Seoul is to become a mecca for locally-produced animation.
The city of Seoul decided on March 26 to remodel the former emergency services building, beside the Seoul Animation Center, to house an animation support center to open on April 11.
More animation-oriented enterprises are expected to open in the vicinity, including an historical museum, showcasing animation from 1945 to the present, a screening center, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the industry.
The city is planning other openings, including a professional information center and a business support center.
A source from city hall said, "We've decided to expand facilities to develop the animation industry ... The changes will make the industry more accessible for the public."
