New Film Industry Organization Gets More and More Attention

The Motion Picture Promotion Commission (MPPC) is going to replace the Motion Picture Promotion Corporation when laws and regulations for the film industry go into effect beginning May 9.
As the launch of MPPC nears, those related to the motion picture industry are speculating on who will serve as members of MPPC.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism(MOCT) sent an official letter to ask many motion picture groups to recommend candidates for MPPC membership.
MPPC, which is supposed to be established no later than June 9, will be composed of 10 members that the minister of culture and tourism appoints.
The Chungmuro Forum in which such famous Korean actors as Moon Sung Keun and Myeong Kye Nam participate held a meeting on April 20 and conducted a straw vote to nominate members.
The Motion Picture Association of Korea will hold a general meeting and gather opinions on the new organization's membership.
