Recent Measles Breakout Spreads to Taegu

The measles outbreak that started in Yongdok and Yongju cities in North Kyongbuk Province has spread to the Taegu metropolitan area.
Taegu city health officials confirmed that three elementary school students had contracted measles and had been admitted to the Dongsan Medical Center. In addition to the 3 confirmed cases of measles, ten other suspected cases were being observed to see if symptoms of the disease would appear.
A total of 22 measles cases have been reported in Taegu, bringing the total number of cases to 348 in North Kyongbuk Province. The vast majority of the cases, 235, have occured in Yongju, while there have been 38 in Pohang and 75 in Yongdok.
