Samarago"s "Memorial Del Convento" Translated into Korean

This year's winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, Portuguese writer Jose Samarago's novel 'Memorial Del Convento' was translated into Korean and published recentely.
This is the first translation of Samarago's work into Korean.
The 'Moonhaksegye'(World Literature Co.) published the first part of his novel on November 13 and part II will be published on the 14th.
'Memorial Del Convento' is a satirical novel set in the first half of the eighteenth century that describes the conflicting reality of visionaries and authorities in the church as well as the monarchy. It is also a love story of two young and innocent people.
The work is richly imaginative and darkly ironic novel which satisfies the reader's desire to overcome the dark and painful reality of existence with a mixture of realism and fantasy.
This novel sold over 400,000 copies in Portugal and was dramatized into an opera under the title of 'Blimunda' in Italy.
