Published: 04 Jan. 2003, 18:02
One hundred and eighteen domestic and 73 foreign publishing companies from 18 countries are expected to participate in the fair hosted by the Korean Publishers' Association(KPA).
The book fair, which dates back to 1954, became an international event five years ago, in 1994.
The KPA says it is focusing on promoting overseas sales of Korean book copyrights at this year's fair. To this end, the exhibition of 180 Korean books translated into foreign languages will be highlighted.
An organizing official said they will stage a special event that reflects the nation's 5,000-year history. The event will show a variety of ancient Korean books including the first book ever in the world printed in movable metal type.
The United States will join the fair for the first time and operate about 40 booths.
