Seoul Opera Festival September

The '99 Seoul Opera Festival' will be held at the Seoul Arts Center's Opera House from September 25 to October 10.
Three operas, Berlioz's 'Damnation of Faust', which will be performed in Korea for the first time, and Puccini's 'La Boheme' and 'Madame Butterfly', will feature in this festival.
This festival, which debuted last year to commemorate 50 years of Korean opera history, has featured both Korean and western operas.
At a spring festival held in May, Yun Isang's masterpiece 'Simtjong', Paek Byong-dong's 'Shining Love' and Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas' were performed, while 'Carmen','La Boheme' and 'Rigoletto' were featured at last year's fall festival.
The director of 'Damnation of Faust', Mun Ho-keun, said, 'We will include the vulgar and baudy verbal expression in this opera, and themes of erotic love and mental breakdown will be explored.'
Tenor Kim Jae-hyung, baritone Kim Dong-sup and mezzosoprano Kim Hyun-joo will star in 'Damnation of Faust'.
