Shagadelic Baby, "Austin Powers" Film to be Released on InternetThe film 'Austin Powers' directed by Jay Roach will be released on an 'Internet theater' at the same time as it premieres at cinemas in Seoul.
Hanaro Telecom announced on Wednesday that it will release 'Austin Powers' on July 24, the opening day of the film in Seoul, on its ultra-speed Internet service homepage- home.hananet.net.
It is the first premiere of a commercial film on the Internet, although some Internet service companies have already shown films previously released on the 'big screen'. The pay per view charge was set at 2,500 won, which will be added to the patron's phone bill.
Hanaro Telecom will show the film at 10:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays until August 15.
A source in Hanaro said, 'We have improved the quality of picture to that of the TV's level by sending 25 frames a second, while existing services send only five to six frames.'
However, this service is available only for the 15,000 subscribers of Hanaro Telecom's Internet service.
