Uijongbu Service To Re-Open for The Spring

Train service from Seoul to Uijongbu (northeast of the Seoul city limits) which was halted last December will resume April 2.
The Korean National Railroad(KNR) wants to run a tourist Mugunghwa service made up of five to six cars to travel the route once a day.
Stops will be from Seoul Station, Shinch'on, Gajwa, Susaeng, Nunggok, Daegok, Ilyong, Changheung, Onleung, Songchu and finally Uijongbu. The first train will depart Seoul Station at 10:15 a.m. and arrive at Uijongbu Station at 11:50 a.m.
However, the KNR will only offer service on the line until May. The line, which usually runs until November, will have to make way for high-speed rail construction taking place at Seoul Station. But, the KNR will still offer rail service during weekdays if a group such as a school wishes to go for a picnic or travel to the area. Of course, this charter-like service will require reservations in advance.
One-way travel is 3,800 won for adults and 1,900 won for children and reservations will be accepted as of April 7 at Seoul Station and Uijongbu Staion. For more travel schedules and reservations, please contact 02-392-7788.
