Um"s Song Focus of International Music Law Suit

Polygram, an American music distribution company, on April 28 filed a lawsuit against the Taiwanese 'Rock' Record Company saying that it had illegally used Korean singer Um Jong Hwa's song 'Invitation' from her 4th record album, causing enormous financial losses.
Polygram's written complaint states, 'Um signed a contract with us in March 1998 in which we soley took over all the rights to her music, but Rock has been editing her song without our permission.'
Rock maintains there is no problem since it paid a fee to Um's managers before using her song.
