[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]All players are worthy of our grace

Seoul was exciting in June because of the World Cup. Before the tournament, only a few people took an interest in soccer. However, following the invigoration of Korean soccer by Guus Hiddink, everything has changed. The young Korean players, who were unknowns, competed fiercely with foreign players, finally reaching the semifinals for the first time. But the press and the media have focused only on the players who scored goals during the tournament.

Players who did not get a chance to play seem to be shunned by the public. Obviously, this is not the first time that the media and press have focused only on the stars. In the Asian Games or the Olympics the silver and bronze medalists often are not sought out for interviews.

As natural as it is for people to take more interest in the players who have made goals or performed in an outstanding manner, we should pay a little more attention to the players who do not get onto the field but are valuable to the team's success.
