[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Bad manners spoiled this train trip

Recently I traveled from Suwon to Seoul by train and encountered some women who called each other teacher. They were talking loudly to one another, louder than necessary, I thought.

It was rush hour and the train was jammed. When the train departed Suwon, this group of women occupied several seats by putting their bags on the seats. Since there were too many riders, some passengers tried to move the bags and take a seat, but the women said that that seat was taken. At one point, someone got on the train and took one of those seats. The new passenger seemed to be an acquaintance of the teachers.

These were not old people. They were in their 40s, but they did not seem to notice all the elderly people standing in front of them with heavy bags.

Good train manners should be taught to children as well as to adults.
