[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Keep surge in K-league interest alive

The World Cup fever has not abated; it is visible even in our national K-league. But no one pays attention to the names of K-league players. And their uniforms are plastered with commercial ads from sponsors, which are bigger than their names. Of course, the aim is to promote the companies.

Those players whose skills have gained them recognition in World Cup games are the biggest force in Korean soccer.

Members of the national soccer team who play in international matches or on foreign professional teams are more famous than players in the domestic league. But the World Cup gave K-league players new exposure and created a higher level of interest in their play. But if the soccer fever fades, what will happen to these players?

The main purpose of the K-league is to boost domestic soccer and identify talent. Sponsors should pay less attention to advertising and support teams to build a strong domestic program.
