[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Line-cutting a problem in banks

The five-day workweek has surely led more people to use banks on Fridays. Banks on Fridays now are literally packed with people as soon as the doors open. Most banks have customers take a number so that they can be dealt with in order. That is a very good system, but negligence seems to have marred the purpose of it.

A few days ago at a nearby bank I spotted quite a few people who would come in and go directly to the counter without getting a waiting number. What made me more upset was that the attendants did not check the waiting number at all. Some of us waited for almost 30 minutes. Meanwhile, customers would come in, do what they needed to do and walk away without having to wait for a single second.

I understand it is tiresome for attendants to check the waiting number each time they greet the next customer. However, bank employees should know they will lose the trust of customers if they keep allowing people to cut in.
