[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Recycle umbrella wrappers

The rainy season has begun and plastic bags for wet umbrellas are placed in front of many buildings. When entering a building, people cover their umbrellas with the plastic so the water won't drip on the floor, and throw the plastic in the trash on their way out.

When a person throws away the plastic bag and goes to another building, he has to use another plastic cover to wrap the umbrella again. Without a plastic cover for his umbrella when he rides a subway, bus or private car, or when he goes into a coffee shop or other place where the umbrella wrappers are not provided, the floors get slippery and dirty.

The plastic covers do not decompose when thrown away, which causes environmental problems. Instead of simply throwing away the plastic covers when walking out of a building, people should recycle them. Recycling the bags would help keep floors clean and reduce the number of plastic bags that end up in landfills.
