Oldie but Goodie: Ewha Wants Singer

Ewha Womans University said Friday that it is planning to invite Cliff Richard, a 61-year- old English pop singer, to the school festival in May, more than three decades after his last appearance there.

Mr. Richard, who enjoyed vast popularity mainly in the 1960s and '70s with many hit songs, including inThe Young Onesld and inSummer Holiday,lu performed at the school in 1969. At that time, fans who could not reserve seats watched his performance from hallways. Some wild fans even took off their underwear and threw them to Mr. Richard on the stage.

A university official said, "We're in the process of creating a fun performance in which those fans who have grown old and the students currently attending our school can enjoy his music together."
