Subway 'Movie Train' Opens A 2-Month Run on March 31

A "movie train" on which subway riders can watch movie highlights will run from March 30 to May 31, the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corp. said Thursday.

"Cine Train 2001" will run on line No. 3 and will operate 10 times a day, twice to and from Suseo and Daehwa and three times to and from Suseo and Gupabal.

Trains will be decorated with different movie posters, depending on their themes - "Korean Movie Train," "History Train," "Science Fiction Train," "Action Movie Train" and "Animation Train." They will show movie highlights along with the latest news and announcements to provide passengers with a new cultural experience, an official said.

The corporation will also offer movie previews on Saturdays and Sundays at the Central Government Complex station at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and hold exhibitions of posters of movie stars and entertainers' autographs, among other events.

"We planned this event to provide a unique experience to subway passengers through blending popular arts with public transportation," the official said. Some 800 million won ($640,000) to prepare the movie train will be paid entirely by a private company that designed the event
