Hot outdoor fests before the chill

The Dynamic Korea Festival, sponsored by the Korean National Tourism Organization, is on Saturday and Sunday. Events, in honor of Citizen's Day, will take place at Ichon Han River Park and in downtown Seoul.
Dancers from Japan, circus performers from China and the percussion group Nanta from Korea will follow the opening ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Riverside Park. The night will end with Omagari fireworks.
On Sunday, events shift to downtown Seoul. The Love Seoul Festival includes a citizen's parade, a food exhibition, games and performances by both modern and traditional troupes from East Asia. From 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., there will also be a pop and classical concert and a parade at Taepyeongno.
Events culminate with the official launch of the new "Hi Seoul" slogan. The festival finale, at City Hall, includes a pop concert, jazz performance, namsadangpae (a traditonal Korean dance), laser show and a fireworks display.
The time to enjoy the fall foliage is now. Need an excuse? Join the Korean International Walking Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
The location is Wonju, Gangwon province, one of Korea's most beautiful areas in autumn.
There will an air show, folk performances, a parade, face painting, free massages and more. Admission is 2,000 won ($1.60).
Just don't expect to be alone; organizers predict that 30,000 people will attend.

The Gimpo Airport Outdoor Park is hosting the China Super Lantern Festival. The fest runs through Nov. 3.
The "Super" is for the size of the lanterns -- some are 100 meters tall. Exhibitions include a display from Arabian Nights to a panda park to Tienanmen Square. In addition to lanterns, there nightly are performances at 7, 9 and 10:30.
