"Oasis," which won several awards at this year's Venice International Film Festival, is being screened with English subtitles.
Cine Core, a downtown cinema in Jongno, hosts the event to celebrate the achievement in Venice. The theater shows the film with subtitles at 8:30 p.m. from Friday to Sunday.
The director Lee Chang-dong, 47, tells the love story of a most unlikely pair, a mildly-retarded ex-convict and a woman with cerebral palsy. While not a comfortable story, it is powerful and touching.
"Oasis" earned Lee the Special Director's Award at Venice. Moon So-ri, the lead actress, took the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress.
You can reach Cine Core by taking subway line No. 1, to Jongno 3-ga station, exit 15.
For more information, call the theater at (02) 2285-2090.
