&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Thank you for a visit I will not ever forget

We arrived in Korea two weeks before the World Cup soccer games and left, after extending our stay by two weeks, in the middle of June. The atmosphere throughout the country was intoxicating. There was a patriotic fervor that never descended into ugly nationalism. It was simply unadulterated pride, joy and celebration.

The wonderful friendship offered people from visiting countries was tremendous. The messages scrawled on banners, thanking Turkey for its support during the Korean War, for example, made the international event truly harmonious.

Unfortunately, the amazing experience that Koreans provided helped generate disappointment with the rest of our itinerary to other countries because we were not able to find anything close to the level of hospitality we were shown in Korea. This is a most sincere and honest comment.

I am simply writing this short letter to offer my most humble gratitude to the people of Korea for your wonderful attitude while I was a guest in your country. My fantastic memories are still strong and I hope to return again some day. Hopefully, I can return your favors by helping any Koreans who are fortunate enough to visit Sydney.
