&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Make life easy with a number

I am a policemen. Recently, during my night shift, I received a call pertaining to a parking problem. Arriving at the location, I found a large cargo truck blocking a small street in a residential area. Not only cars but even pedestrians were impeded. No contact number was displayed on the truck so I had to check the registration and call the owner. It was late in the day, and nobody answered the call. After one hour the driver arrived and moved the vehicle.

The Ministry of Construction and Traffic reported last year that 14 million cars are on our roads -- one car for every 3.4 people. The reality is we do not have enough space to park them!

With millions of vehicles much energy is put into resolving parking problems around our cities. Every night I handle five or more parking incidents, taking over 30 minutes per case. I hope drivers heed my advice to leave their phone number on their parked vehicle.
