Valentines swathed in chocolate or ice

It's time to wine and dine your loved one. And with Valentine's Day just a week away, now is the time to make reservations.

Here are some options available at Seoul's hotels.


Grand Hyatt Seoul, (02) 277-8112

Ice skating: The "Hearts on Ice" package (66,000 won per couple, about $57) on Feb. 14 includes roses, hot cocoa, lucky draws and admission for two to the rink. The Korean national skating team will stage a skating exhibition. The first 20 couples to sign up for the promotion will get a chance to declare their love from the center of the rink.


Grand Inter-Continental Hotel, (02) 555-5656

Wine & Dine: The Australian Grill and the Grand Cafe will have a set menu for 45,000 won a person on Valentine's Day.

Dessert: Decorate a chocolate heart, star or circle with a message for your sweetheart. The sweets are available at the Grand Inter-Continental Deli Shop in white or dark chocolate. Prices vary from 15,000 won to 35,000 won. The deli is also offering cakes and special chocolate-filled boxes.

Westin Chosun Hotel, (02) 771-0500

Lucky Valentine Bingo: O'Kim's features a Valentine menu through Feb. 14. Five people will receive a prize worth 550,000 won at 9 p.m. nightly through Valentine's Day.

Romantic Meals: A Valentine's Day menu includes truffle soup and baby rack of veal for lunch (65,000 won), and beef tenderloin and lobster for dinner (95,000 won).


J.W. Marriott, (02) 6282-6759

Wine & Dine: The J.W. Grill will be offering aphrodisiac cuisine on Valentine's Day. Dishes will be made with oysters, avocado, honey, lobster, chocolate, eggs and strawberries.


Lotte Hotel, (02) 317-7148

Dessert: Through Feb. 14, Delica-Hans offers chocolate gift sets. The in-house team has created several delectable selections. Imported chocolates are also available. In addition, guests can design their own gift sets.


Shilla Hotel, (02) 2230-3310

Wine & Dine: La Fontana, the Italian restaurant, will offer a six-course dinner on Feb. 14. The menu includes a seafood salad with caviar, porcini mushroom soup, crabmeat lasagna, ricotta cheese dumplings with sage, grilled beef tenderloin and tiramisu. The cost is 80,000 won.

Dessert: From Monday to Friday, the Bakery Shop will sell boxes of Valentine chocolate. Prices range from 10,000 won to 100,000 won.

"Goodbye Single" Party: Dress up in black or pink. A special party for singles -- and couples -- on Feb. 14th at Lounge 42 includes matchmaking and auction events for those without dates from 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. The cover charge is 50,000 won for men and 30,000 won for women.
