&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Trip to Korea provided insights

The article “The changing face of a working-class neighborhood” (Feb. 17) was very interesting. I’m Chinese, born in Hong Kong, but I’m now living in Los Angeles.
I recently returned from my first trip to Korea. I learned that seeing is believing. Somehow, through the years, I had the misconception that Koreans speak Chinese and that there are many Chinese living in Korea. But this trip showed me that it is not true.
When I came to the United States, I met many Koreans who spoke Chinese, and since Korea is so close to China, I thought that many Chinese had emigrated to Korea and that many Koreans could speak Chinese.
On this trip I also learned that many Chinese are in Korea illegally and that most of them live near the airport. In Los Angeles, the majority of people think that Koreans are rude. But this trip changed my views of Korea.
