&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Daegu fire sparks a suggestion

I would like to share an idea with the government, an idea that I feel would be very useful to everyone.
The entire nation is shocked each time we experience incidents like the Daegu subway fire. As always, families of the dead mourn in front of a scorched site, while workers search for additional bodies. But after a severe fire, often accompanied by massive amounts of water used to extinguish it, some of the bodies are washed away. The police try to find the lost victims using DNA tests, but not all can be recovered. The pain is thus returned to the families of the victims, who are left with the word "missing".
I know that dental records and personal belongings can be used to identify victims. This is costly, difficult, time consuming and not error-free. All adults have social security cards. Why don't we make those cards fireproof? It sure would make things easier.
