[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Telecom gave data to marketer
Published: 15 Mar. 2003, 00:14
I recently received a phone call asking me to purchase a PDA phone. I had heard that the government will permit telecom companies to offer subsidies toward the purchase of PDAs and expected the market to heat up, but I never expected it to be so soon.
“Because of the subsidies our million won ($800) PDA can be yours for only 200,000 won in installments,” the sales clerk said. “Sorry, I already have one,” I answered. “I doubt that yours is better than ours,” the clerk replied in a ridiculing tone and hung up.
Angry, I called my phone company to complain. The manager said they have no idea who made the call and that the numbers were random.
How dare they divulge my information to merchandisers and take no responsibility for such action. Telecom companies, mind your manners.
