[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Parking slots for disabled are usurped
Published: 19 Mar. 2003, 22:59
Every time I visit the discount warehouse store in my neighborhood, I feel a sense of disappointment because all the parking spaces for the physically handicapped are occupied by the cars of drivers who are not disabled.
This section is always occupied, but the great majority of the cars do not belong there. Among the usurpers, some are even misrepresenting themselves, by obtaining stickers under another person’s name.
On top of this, the elevator for the physically disabled is always used by the fully ambulant. I have even seen a young couple with a child taking the lift. I really wonder how they plan to teach their child the meaning of morality.
The Korean people's gross income has indeed increased over the years, but our morality falls far too short for us to be called a developed nation. It is shameful for us to be so crass toward the people who need our help and attention.
