[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Elderly ease bad feelings
Published: 23 Apr. 2003, 23:37
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the elderly of Seoul. As a Canadian, I have encountered some anti-Americanism here in Seoul over the last several months. It comes in various forms but mainly university students, bus and taxi drivers and small-cafe workers.
Usually the elderly I have encountered on the subway trains have been genuine in offering me a seat next to them despite not being able to say a word in English. They speak with just a smile, and that always says enough.
