[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]A cash-only policy to see soccer baffles
Recently, I went to a bank to buy tickets for the national soccer team’s match with Japan. Though it was the first day of the ticket sales, people were waiting in a long line. I once again sensed the soccer fever of Koreans. But there is one thing I cannot understand whenever I go to buy tickets for A-match soccer games. The bank selling the tickets accepts only cash. I’m a soccer maniac, so I often go to see A-match games. For this match, a different bank was handling the tickets. So I submitted my credit card, but the teller rejected it. I asked her, “Why don’t you take my credit card?” She replied, “I’m complying with the bank’s guideline.”
In the World Cup last summer, the international soccer federation designated credit-card firms and promoted ticket purchases by credit cards. I cannot understand why I cannot use my credit card for tickets for our national soccer team’s match with another national soccer team.
