&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Where did North Korea get the idea?

I would like to add to Hal Piper’s metaphorical assessment regarding North Korea as an out of control, rebellious teenager (“And probably into drugs, too,” May 3). Psychologists agree that troubled teens learn many of their delinquent activities through role models, such as their parents. Recently, it appears that the troubled teen, North Korea, has been running drugs to make money for the rent. Where did it get such an idea?
It has been well documented that Uncle Sam has been running drugs to fund covert operations. The drug running was exposed by a reporter of the San Jose News in 1996, then confirmed by others, including ex-drug enforcement agents. One ex-agent, Calerino Castillo III, detailed Uncle Sam’s subversive drug-dealing activities in a written statement for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
I guess North Korea figured, if Uncle Sam can sell drugs, why can’t I?
