Lotions to doctor the skinFact: The body’s largest organ is the skin. On average, an adult’s skin has a surface area of two square meters (2.4 square yards). As humans age, skin and tissue renewal slow down. Skin loses density and thickness.
It’s knowledge like this that has led Vichy Laboratories to develop lotions that restore the skin plumpness, revive skin tone and combat acne. The same is true of La Roche-Posay.
One of the hottest concepts at Vichy is skin density. Vichy says it can turn back time with Novadiol, a skin-density recovery product that has anti-aging results.
The product and research backing Vichy’s claims were introduced at the Ninth Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology.
The key component is phyto-flavone, which combines soya extract and two phyto-active ingredients. Studies indicate that soya isoflavones, a photo-estrogen, stimulate cellular renewal. A jar of Novadiol day cream is 50,000 won ($42). The night cream is 60,000 won.
Vichy gears up for summer with a suncare campaign. The latest product, Capital Soleil Enfant, provides SPF 60 protection for delicate children’s skin. All the suncare products in the Capital Soleil line are PABA and fragrance free. The main ingredient is Parsol 1789, a patented filter that helps block UVA and UVB rays. A tube is 32,000 won.
When Vichy surveyed more than 600 dermatologists last year, most said they would recommend a wrinkle and fine-line skin care product that combined Retinol and vitamin C. Hence, Reti C, a treatment with Retinol and Vitamin C. The daytime formula has light SPF protection and costs 50,000 won a tube. The night care formula costs 60,000 won.
La Roche-Posay, a laboratory based in a small village in central France, provides physician-dispensed clinical skin-care pharmaceuticals, like the products found in the Toleriane line. These target people with sensitive skin, ranging from dry to oily to combination skin. The Foaming Cleanser is 22,000 won a tube.
Another specialty item by La Roche-Posay is for very dry skin. Lipikar Body Lotion is a quick-absorbing formula designed to restore a healthy moisture level to the skin and prevent irritation or scaling. A bottle costs 28,000 won.
