[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Vacationers are polluters of the nation

Resorts nationwide are littered with vacationers’ garbage.
Residents in resort areas say that they have to clean up a massive amount of trash after the vacation season, and the problem is everywhere because more Koreans have cars and can drive to out-of-the-way places. Television and radio have featured unknown tour sites and resorts, so the problem is no longer just at Haeundae Beach in Busan.
It is understandable that network programs should meet the audience’s expectations; with the five-day workweek almost a reality, more people are interested in leisure activities. But the networks should not only just introduce audiences to scenic areas, but also educate them on the proper etiquette for keeping our resorts clean and litter-free so that tourists will be welcome.
