From powder to mascara, here are bestselling products from some of the cosmetic giants.

Estee Lauder’s pure color line launched in 2000, and since then, it’s been one of their bestselling lines. Each season, additional colors are introduced in the lipstick, eyeshadow and nail polish categories. Pure Color eyeshadow comes in a cube, just small enough to fit in your purse. Single or dual colors are available. Cost is 28,000 won ($24).

Helene Rubinstein launched the world’s first waterproof mascara. The year was 1939, and sales were brisk. Since then, the Extravagant Mascara Waterproof has been a top seller. Customers tout its volumizing effect and smear- and smudge-proof formula. In Korea, the mascara accounts for 31 percent of Rubenstein’s makeup sales. Two colors are available, black and brown. The mascara washes off with soapy water or mascara remover. Cost is 35,000 won.

When Cameron Diaz needed a lipstick for her action heroine role in the movie “Charlie’s Angels,” the company called in was Stila. The result was Lip Glaze. The lip gloss line now accounts for 30 percent of the company’s sales. Six colors are available in Korea. Cost is 34,000 won.

Bobbi Brown has a book called “Bobbi Brown Beauty: The Ultimate Beauty.” One of the secrets to creating the look is perfect skin and the company’s famous brown-base tinted lipstick. To create shiny lips, the company offers Lip Gloss. Formula includes jojoba and avocado oils, and antioxidant Vitamins C and E. Cost is 30,000 won.

One of the most famous make-up artists to hail from Japan, Shu Uemura not only put the finishing touches on Hollywood stars, but also launched his own makeup line in 1967. He’s probably just as famous for his eyelash curler as he is for his Face Powder. The lightweight powder can work as a base or as a finish. Five sheer and five matte finishes are available. Cost is 45,000 won.

If there is one must-have from Lancome, it’s Juicy Tube. The lip gloss is ultra-shiny, with a fruity scent. A rounded tube tip ensures easy application. Earlier this year, it won the Kiss of Approval Beauty Award. Cost is 24,000 won.

Clinique takes a scientific approach to makeup, and Superbalanced Makeup is no different. This oil-free formula works double duty to provide moisture where needed and absorb oil where needed. Good for combination skin. Allergy-free. Cost is 37,000 won.
Glamour and Yves Saint Laurant are a perfect match. Red lipstick has always been one of the company’s bestsellers. “Red is modern, red is glamorous,” says one of the company’s spokesperson. Come fall and winter, color experts are predicting that red is in. Look for color No. 96. Cost is 28,000 won.

MAC, founded by a Canadian makeup artist, is famous for its trendsetting colors. Is it any wonder that its lip products sell so well? Lychee Luxe, from the Lip Glass line, is the company’s No. 1 lip gloss. The tint has an irridescent gold touch with a pink tone. Cost is 20,000 won.
