High art on a low budget at shoestring film event

The Chungmuro Intermedia Playground is hosting its 17th annual “100,000 Won Video Festival” now until Sunday. The event, which started as an underground movement out of Hongik University, screens several short films made with a catch: none can have a budget exceeding 100,000 won ($85).
The three films chosen from 63 entries are “Three Persons” by Choi Sung-gi, “Sounds of the Sea” by Han Dong-seok and “Golem” by Lee-Myung-jin. Several entries from Japan are also being screened.
The Playground is located in Chungmuro subway station, line No. 4. Videos run four times daily. For information, call (02) 2263-0056, or check out www.videofest.net and www.playmedia.or.kr.
