&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93 We must increase the birthrate

I’ve read the report on the birthrate decrease. It said the average number of babies delivered by fertile women last year was 1.17, a decline from 1.3 in 2001. As the figure was 6 in the 1960s, it’s a really big change. I can easily see the trend around me. There are many who want to bear just one baby and bring it up well, because it costs so much to raise children. It is hard to find good babysitters, and if we do, it costs a lot. This decrease will create many obstacles to economic and social development. It is most important for the government to help women manage their lives without major problems even after having babies. I hope the government will come up with good policies to increase the birthrate with the cooperation of the National Assembly.
