&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Tell truth on education

I agree with you 100 percent about the basic strength of the Korean educational system. Parents must oversee their children’s education and are at fault if their children do not study diligently. In Korea, I don't see what's wrong with a 90 percent plus literacy rate and a high percentage of competence in math and science.
In America over half of the children that graduate high school can't read or write at a competent level. I think it is the media's fault to a certain extent, in that America or Anglophone countries are portrayed as heaven, but they are not lands of milk and honey. They don't see the other problems such as teenage pregnancies, violent crimes and drug abuse. Journalists should write about the darker side of heaven.
