&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93AIDS spread is something to ponder

Thanks for the information about the Korean prostitutes in an article on Wednesday titled “Sex trade blames foreigners as sales drop.” I am not sure who has AIDS or other diseases, but this may be something to investigate or think about.
AIDS is probably introduced 99 percent of the time by Korean males who work abroad in poor countries such as China and Vietnam and come back to Korea and spread it to prostitutes here and even to their wives.
I believe many foreign workers are tested for sexually transmitted diseases before coming here to work, and if that is the case they are bringing nothing to Korea.
In Taiwan, where I used to work, all foreigners were tested as part of the visa approval process, and therefore no AIDS came from outside Taiwan, or at least from foreign workers. But the Taiwanese had the same notion people have here. This is something to think about.
