Homegrown colors, sweatproof mascara and the scent of jewelry

For one month, Lancome surveyed 28,710 people through its Web site and discovered that the most people are dissatisfied with mascara that smudges. So the company rolled out Magicils, a mascara that lasts through sweat and tears. It’s available in six colors: black, grey, turquoise, plum, violet and pink. Cost is 33,000 won ($29).

For the launching of the Aqua Delice line, L’Oreal consulted Korean makeup artist Kim Chung-kyung, whose clients include Shim Eun-ha, Song Hye-kyo and Kim Nam-ju. Ms. Kim helped develop three of the lipstick colors available in Korea. Two of her suggestions, Exotic Red and Jewelry Brown, were released for fall. So far, Aqua Delice has 12 colors in all. Next year, when L’Oreal unveils the spring color choices, one of them will be Ms. Kim’s. Cost is 18,000 won.

Bobbi Brown’s Split Pan Eye Shadow combines two colors. “Brush the lighter color on the lower eyelid and draw in your eye liner with the darker shade,” says one Bobbi Brown makeup artist. Four new color combinations are champagne shimmer wash and espresso; bone and mahogany; bone and black plum; and bronze shimmer wash and smoke. Cost is 32,000 won.

Shu Uemura has just released Sweet Lip Gloss. Three oils go into each formula to create a lustrous, non-sticky shine and to lock in moisture. The eight colors available are pear, lemon, mandarin orange, strawberry, rosemary, raspberry, cherry and peach. Cost is 23,000 won.

Helene Rubinstein has expanded its steady-selling Collagenist line. The new Collagenist Night Cream has a formula that includes phytokine, cytovitine, malt extract, bilberry extract, soft exfoliating agent, lightening complex and vitamins B5, E and B3. Researchers developed the Collagenist night cream to match the nightly cell renewal cycle for an anti-wrinkle and plumping treatment. Cost is 120,000 won.

Just out this month: Ralph Lauren’s Romance Sensuous Hand Creme. “As the weather gets cooler, skin care becomes more important,” says one make-up artist. The formula, enriched with vitamin D-Panthenol, is quickly absorbed into the skin for deep conditioning and a lingering romantic fragrance. The entire body-care line includes body mousse, moisturizer, bath and shower gel. Cost is 40,000 won.

Bulgari’s scent of the moment is Omnia. The bottle shape pays homage to the company’s fame as a jewelry designer. Released earlier this month, the scent blends spices like mandarin, saffron, ginger and black pepper. The middle notes are cinnamon, nutmeg, Indian almond and lotus blossom. The bottom notes are white chocolate, Indian wood and sandalwood. The scent is Bulgari’s first Oriental fragrance. Cost is 87,000 won for a 40-milliliter bottle.
